North River Seahawk 21

Description
The North River Seahawk 21 is a super tough aluminum hull that is great in big water and has a very sturdy Top Gun canvas top that will protect up to 4-5 adults in comfort (2 x air ride seats and 2 x 36″ benches). The Seahawk is the widest boat that can be trailered without a special permit (8′6″) which provides a lot of fishing space.

The North River Seahawk 21 is actually a 23 foot boat when you take into account the 2 foot offshore buoyancy bracket. This frees up space on the transom and provides for a huge amount of fishing space. Words really don't do justice to the amount of fishing space on this boat. It makes for a great fishing platform for as many as 4-5 adults.

We're adding this boat to the fleet because it is essentially our dream boat. You'll get a lot of compliments on this one when you pull up to the dock!

The Honda 4 stroke engines are very quiet, reliable and sip fuel.

Boston Whaler Montauk 170

Description
Our Boston Whaler centre console is based in Vancouver, BC and ready to be trailered anywhere in British Columbia where the fish are biting. It is a great boat for 2 or 3 adults fishing protected waters (e.g. Barkley Sound, Nootka Sound, Alberni Inlet) or the east coast of Vancouver Island (e.g Campbell River or the Gulf Islands). The boat also functions very nicely for fly fishing on interior lakes!

This boat is unsinkable, fast, and fuel efficient due to the 90HP Mercury 4 stroke. We've caught a lot of big fish on this boat and she has never let us down. Another nice feature of this boat is its light weight which means easy trailer-ability with almost any vehicle that has a Class III hitch and a 2″ ball.

Kicker Engine: 5 HP Mercury 4 Stroke
Cruising Speed: Approximately 30 MPH
Downriggers: Scotty manual

Base Daily Rental Rates

Rentals over 5 days in length
We have discounts available for:

  • Repeat customers
  • Multi boat rentals
  • Referrals

Please note that our rates are highly dependent on the time of year and the length of your rental. Please use our handy quote generator to get a full rental quote for your next fishing trip!

Towing Charges
Depending on your schedule, we may be able to arrange pickup and drop-off at your intended destination. The rate for towing is $80/hour and is based on the time required to get to and from the towing destination safely. Please contact us for more information if you're considering having us tow a boat for you.

We are not a budget boat rental operation and we don't make any apologies for it. We rent premium, trailerable, west coast capable boats that are comfortable and fully equipped with downriggers and electronics.

If you're looking to rent a premium fishing boat on Vancouver Island then you've come to the right place. We rent the kind of boats that the guides run, but for less than half the price of a guided trip. You may be able to find a cheaper rental boat on Vancouver Island, but you won't find anything as comfortable, capable, or well equipped. You also won't find premium boats that can be towed anywhere that the fish are biting!

Please feel free to compare the quality of our boats and our pricing with any other fishing alternative on the west coast of Vancouver Island. We don't think you'll find a better alternative!

Minimum Rental Length
The normal minimum rental length during mid season is 3 days. The minimum rental length for the rest of the season is 2 days. However, please check with us as we may have short periods between rentals during the prime season and we may be able to accommodate you.

Rental Length Discount
Rentals greater than 5 days in length will receive an additional 10% discount (doesn't include delivery/pickup charges).

  • About Us

We believe the following to be true:

    1. Life is too short not to fish.
    2. Fishing from crappy boats is less desirable than fishing from awesome boats.
    3. Sitting at home and not fishing because you can't afford to buy a boat is not an option.

We are avid fishermen that LOVE fishing boats. We think about boats a lot.

We believe that there is something special about being the "captain" of your own fishing boat (even if it's not yours!). Going out with guides can be a lot of fun, but nothing beats the satisfaction of landing a big Chinook when you're the one that is in charge of the boat. Lets face it, once you've reached a certain level of competency, you probably don't want to go fishing with a guide.

Having fished from some pretty lame boats over the years, we firmly believe that the boat you're sitting in can have a significant impact on the quality of your fishing and your vacation.

We're guys with careers and young families. We couldn't afford to own boats big enough for our families and we couldn't find a place that would rent us the kind of boats we wanted to fish from. Instead of sitting around complaining about it, we decided to create the company that we couldn't find.

    The Guys

Casey Woods lives in Calgary Alberta and is a technology consultant, entrepreneur, and salmon fishing addict. He takes care of marketing, advertising, booking, the website, and dreaming about boats. Casey has been looking for an excuse to have a fishing related business on Vancouver Island for many years...

Garth Drummond lives in North Delta, BC and is a CGA with a public accounting practice based in Richmond, BC. Garth is the financial brains behind salmonboats.ca.

Dave DeJong lives in Port Alberni, is finishing up a Masters Degree, works part-time as a pastor in a local church, and is our "man on the ground". Dave is taking care of the boats and is most likely the guy you'll meet when you pickup and drop off the boat.

    Finding Us
The Boston Whaler is situated in North Delta BC (a suburb of Vancouver) for August, September and October 2007. it is a short trip to the Tsawassen Ferry terminal where you can catch ferries to either Victoria or Nanaimo.

Our North River Seahawk 21 lives in Port Alberni BC. This is an ideal location as it is on the way to Ucluelet/Tofino and gives easy access to Alberni Inlet and Barkley Sound. It is also a short trip back to the main highway if you want to head north to Campbell River, Nootka Sound, or Port Hardy. Port Alberni will be our main base of operations moving forward into 2008 and beyond.

We'll be sure to give you detailed directions to our exact pickup/dropoff locations when it comes time to pickup your boat!
